Yesterday was 4E1 barbeque! So I decided to wear yellow 3E1 T-shirt and white bermudas. Which, wasn't the smartest of ideas.
My attire was badly stained by charcoal.
Still, could've been worse.
Reached Lorong Chuan at like 2:15pm, then went to Han Lyn's house to rejoin the 4E1 gang. Feels good to reunite again! Played a lot of table tennis.
Lost and won quite a lot of times, but all in all, it was fun.
We started the fire at 5:20pm. Despite my frequent concern of starting the fire this late, my concern was not echoed nor replied.
I felt like I was being ignored.
"The food is too much","the fire should've been started 1 hour ago". All these. Nobody gave a cent of their damns. So I didn't bother to clear. I sat back and watch the time go.
The food was great!
Didn't join in the Running Man because about 30% of the food were not even cooked. I felt like I was trying to clean up the mess of procrastinators and optimists. The time went, the fire refused to start, the drizzle became rain, and then it stopped. I couldn't stand it any more, so I went to the lavatory to do some business.
Anyway, when I was back, the fire once again did not start. It was so difficult.
After the other kids came back and saw that no food were cooked, they quickly went to chit-chat with their friends. So I continued barbequing, trying to restart the dead fire.
Muttered a few words into this person's ears. It was a tiny wee quarrel, so I decided to leave. You see, he's/she's the organiser, and there was so much overbought food. So being a realist and being correct, I tried to explain the situation about the food being overbought and the BBQ starting late. He/she didn't care and rebutted me without giving me a chance to explain the following:
You see, if you are having 2 main courses for a barbeque, and if 18 people are attending, shouldn't each main course only be prepared for 9 people? Wouldn't this mean that each person will have half a serving for each of the 2 main courses? However, nope. Laziness, overlooking and lack of meticulousness led to such a big mistake; the 2 main courses were prepared for 15 people EACH. So there was pretty much food enough for 30 people. Besides, who truly eats to their full during barbeques? Hasn't the organiser's "experience of hosting many barbeques" taught him/her a lesson?
Ok maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but I could've gotten at least 25 people to the barbeque instead of 18 for that amount of food.
So yes, people who were so-called "defending" such lack of quantity-awareness should... well, I don't want to comment on that, really. Let's just say I was disgusted.
The next class barbeque shall be organised by other people. Like, other group of people. I can be involved as well, I want to. I don't mind.
Such incidents could've been avoided if I'm honest, if we had not been so lazy to check out the quantity before we prepared the food.
Like I said, I have warned people before, and I will continue to warn people.
But then again, nobody really care about my opinions. So the mistakes will be repeated again, over and over again. And nobody will ever correct it.
So, good luck to the "experienced" organiser, may you have a good barbeque next time.
I'm straightforward and I do not hesitate to write down my views here. If people want to approach me, please give me a phone call. I will not hesitate either to make my stand clear.
Sorry if this blog post sounds harsh~ Maybe there's still a bit of fury left in me...
As such, I will be ending this ultra-long reflection blog post with something slightly funnier. Enjoy your weekend!
Kthxbye~
I'm just kidding.
I'm not done yet. TEEHEE.
I haven't actually talked about today. So I shall start now.
Today woke up at 6:45am to go Scouts. It was raining rather heavily, much to my sadness. I'd rather it be sunny. When it rains, it's ultra cold. My feet and fingers turn real cold. So I get a bit uncomfortable.
Reached school at 8:15am, and then discussed about the campfire and stuff.
That's it. That's all about today.
Oh yeah, got to watch the campfire dances. Some improvements have been made since last weekend, so not bad! Good job scouts~ Must not give up!
On the brighter side, the dance practices started earlier for this year's campfire compared to previous years' ones. I remember my team only had barely 2 months to rehearse for the campfire dance when we were Sec 3.
Ok, this is really the end. See you guys soon!
