Odyssey14

Swag. 1 word to describe TJC Orientation 2014.

Let's start with Voyage 13 first. OG6 was my OG. It was the champion OG for that year's orientation, and of course, being a performer, I was proud. Beyond proud, in fact. It was just that natural thing. When you go around and people ask you which OG you were from, saying "OG6" always seem to make people die a little inside. So that's why. That's why I wanted to become an OGL. Just so that I want to make it as enjoyable as I enjoyed it last year.

Not for the certificates, the records. I just wanted J1s to feel welcomed and to enjoy orientation.

Okay, moving on.

Day 0

So obviously I was excited because I really wanted ZHSS people to be in my OG. Like, at least 1. But then when I looked at the list, I stared at it again. And again. And again. With utter dismay. None. Not even 1.

Then it was time to call the OGMs. Called all 4 I was assigned to, hopeful that at least 1 would pick up. Like, at least 1. But then when I called, it said "number invalid". And again. And then 2 didn't pick up. None. Not even 1.

Day 1

Woke up feeling confused but excited. 5am though... It wasn't a great way to start the day waking up so early but I was excited! I could smell the excitement amongst OGLs too.

So let's skip all the yada yada. First task with the OGMs was to write their name on masking tape and give to them. Had LOADS of problems hearing them and trying to spell their name correctly. Like, LOADS. Like, more than once this time. So close to facepalming.

Had some really cool bonding playing ninja too! The OGMs weren't that enthusiastic yet but, they did get going after we taught them a bit of cheer.

Day 2

Somewhat the same as Day 1, a bit of awkwardness occurred when we learnt couple dances though! OGMs were so shy being J1s, of course, and having barely known each other for long, I wasn't surprised to see awkward couple spins. Credits to ma faithful dance partner Huda for teaching 'em all.

It was really epic, we had loads of fun bonding on Day 2 but other than that, first 2 days were really short...

Day 3

Auditions day for Temasek's Got Talent! But of course, we started off with MASS GAMES. With Aura OG19A. They played loads of games, like catching variations, some scissors paper stones and chairs thingy which I really enjoyed during the trials. It was bloody hot, though. Got pretty darn tan.

Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIAWEI! Like, 10 Feb 2014.

Time to practice for Temasek's Got Talent~ I was real surprised and caught out when they started rehearsing. Just, WOW. They did the entire Payphone song with the rap! SO PROUD OF THEM. They practised over the weekend and it certainly paid off. Had a great audition, but as much as we tried, we didn't make it. Nonetheless, I was so proud of them, and had the urge to actually tell the judges and OG11 to make an exception.

I even went to the extent of accusing OG11 of cheating because they came late for auditions, which meant more time for rehearsal. I'm sorry guys. I was a bit rash. Maybe I didn't know the situation (still don't know now actually), but I know that afterall we're in the same clan so... Give in.

Anyway, dance again and the same akwardness...

Day 4

Amazing Race day!!!! Really cool, we went to the City route and got lost a couple of times. Different personalities mixed together like a stereo track and, boom, you get results! Not Stereo Hearts though.

Must say, the sub-OG did really well and were really enthusiastic! And sorry for being such a time freak, I'm a control freak at times so that may scare off people a bit...

During AR, I learnt a lot about that mirror. A mirror that shows a more exaggerated version of myself. I'm a control freak. I'm a leader type of guy. I can listen to people, but I'd prefer to talk and instruct. So when someone of a supposedly smaller authority challenges me, I will get pressurised like a KFC pressure frying machine. So yeah. I admit, I got a little pissed, not something I had wanted, but I managed to keep it all in. Because I know that mirror doesn't deserve what his image tells him. But then again, he stepped across my line a few times. But that's okay. I know I wasn't a LOT better. Better yes, but not a lot.

Sorry. I had to post this somewhere. It had to come out of my mouth. Or fingers. Whichever you use your keyboards with.

Day 5

O'Nite and so it was the "official" last day of Orientation. Brought the kids out to ECP to play captain's ball! Really cool~ I became a coach for the first time. And became defenders alongside the overpowered Liann. Jeez, you need to stop stealing my blocks HAHA.

Went for lunch before heading back to school 20 minutes late. HAHA. Worth it.

Lepak-ed around under LT2's mushroom, before heading for O'Nite. What a nite it was! Loads of cheers, loads of shouting and screaming. Aura won!!!!!! Like, overall Odyssey '14 champion~ When Mike killed off Shadow, everyone just went like "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH".

I don't think that's what we screamed but the idea is there.

So yeah, great performance by The Daniel Koh Experience! Really hyper. The first band, though, could've done better. Nonetheless, they did hype up the crowd, and no doubt, take nothing away from them, they were awesome.

So yeah, mass dance was sweaty, as always.

WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY?

Day 5.1

Because Orientation ended on day 5, so day 6 was kinda unofficial...

So yeah, mass dance at Suntec! Regrouped with the OG at 3pm, great to see them all hyped up too. Went to suntec to eat early dinner, and then, well, the party started.

The mass dance was so cool, seeing 800+ yellow, blue and red-dressed people dancing in unity. That's why TJC is about~

Then of course, we had to form the longest human chain. Here's some chants we shouted during the line.

"FOLLOW THE MASKING TAPE."
"DON'T LET GO."
"DON'T LET GO, FOLLOWWWW THE MASKING TAPE."

And then the Aura OGLs decided to all just turn around and look behind for no apparent reason with a straight face. Damn funny HAHA! Got like 20+ other people to turn around also HAHAHAHA.

So, obviously, it was successful. YAY! Longest human chain ever.

Day 5.2

Lessons were boring because I was real tired. Then it was road run. Didn't really want to run, was really drained from all the orientation. So, in the end, ran 200m, walked 100m, and then repeated the cycle.

Well at least I got a number tag. Better than last year when I didn't.

Okay time to #slab. Yes, #slab. Because it's a new acronym for Sleeping Like A Boss...

Hellyeah
