The Reality of a Realist

I don't think I've ever written a dedicated blogpost to perhaps the most outstanding trait of myself - being a total realist.

It has its ups and downs for sure, and well, I know people don't like to read long texts, so here is a summary of the pros and cons of being a realist like me.

1. I bring people down to earth.
PRO: Sometimes people can get carried away by their ideas, by things that perhaps may not be attainable or practical to be attempted. That's when the realists step in; they evaluate the practicality of the idea or situation, and then talk to the optimists.
CON: Sometimes telling optimists that their idea don't work can be a bit of a chore; the message may be a tat hard to get across sometimes, especially when the optimists are stubborn. Realists have also offended many optimists before, because optimists don't like their big ideas to be interfered sometimes.

I had this student council EXCO friend in secondary school, and we worked together on several occasions, planning events for the school. Him being an optimist, I always try to tie him down to what resources and time we have, just so his head doesn't get inflated with ideas that aren't feasible.

He's still wanting to work with me till this day. #TooBad #CouncilIsOver

2. I bring people up on earth.
PRO: Not that I have seen many pessimists, but when I do, the realist side of me tells me that these people need someone that can bring up some realistic aims for them. Pessimists may not like ideas that optimists, but I think the ideas presented by realists aren't that hard to attain.
CON: Once again, realists can be a bit of a bug for pessimists who would rather aim lower.

3. Realists are peacemakers
PRO: May help to neutralise the situation during a World War between the optimists and pessimists.
CON: May join in the party and fire shots at everyone.

Okay maybe not. That's just me. Lolz.

I like parties.

Often, I find myself offending more optimists than pessimists, probably primarily because there are more optimists in my life. But oh well, I'll still remain a cautious realist. The world needs different types of people to work, so I think I'm doing a pretty good job balancing the human "ecosystem" right now.

P.S.S: I actually want JT's hair... Like, very badly.
