Not the one about the aeroplane crashing onto a mysterious island and then everyone end up eating each other, of course.
I've recently lost a lot of things.
I'm not trying to be deep. I mean literally. I have lost many items.
Over the years, I think I cannot count on one hand just how many items I have lost over the years. It's absolutely astonishing how many things I've not found ever since they've been missing.
1. Hamsters
God. This one is sad. I remember losing Matcha back last year. She was never found. I vividly remember coming home from my Geography trip in Malaysia and then being told of the news. I broke down, ran around the house trying to desperately search for Matcha.
Just last Tuesday, I lost 2 hamsters, Buttercrunch and Vanilla. Realised the hamster wheel, which was attached externally via a short pipe instead of being fitted inside the cage, was wide open. So I frantically searched for 2 of them. Found Vanilla almost immediately because she was wandering nearby. But Buttercrunch took a while. I placed food on the floor and desperately pleaded that she would come out to eat them at night. And true enough, she did. So mum tried all afternoon to pat the floor, and create noise with what she described as "saucepans and spatulas" to lure out Buttercrunch. And true enough, her curiosity led her to the open and allowed mum to get her and place her back into the cage.
I was so amazed. I cannot be more thankful that both hamsters have been found, within just 15 hours.
2. Wallet
I used to carry an old lady's style of purse in primary school. Yeah, those small, dark brown leather ones with curvy and flower patterns on them. I was totally a fashionista back then.
So I lost it in about Primary 1 and it was just... gone. With a few dollars and an uncountable amount of coins. Needless to say, this meant a lot to a kid who probably received barely $2 a day. So... sobs.
Come to think of it now, good riddance actually. Because I got actual wallets after that. Imagine me still holding on to that same purse now. I'll probably set the trend. Or not have many friends.
3. Portable charger and camp pass
Probably the most recent one. Happened last Thursday, when I recklessly left my bag zip slightly open whilst travelling from Hougang to Serangoon and then to camp in the morning. Obviously, both items went missing. The portable charger was a good one, because it was the 10k mAh Xiaomi charger that worked wonders for me. I absolutely loved it. And the camp pass was worth a $50 fine. Which sucked.
At least my phone hasn't been stolen. And I hope I need not add the word 'yet' at the end of that sentence.
4. Warranty Cards
I procrastinate so much that sometimes I just don't register warranty for the electronic items I buy. And then once the item spoils, I scramble to find the warranty card. And I never find them.
This happened to the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 that I bought. It was an utterly useless tablet, but it worked a bit. So I was a bit sad when it broke down completely and refused to switch on at all. And the more tragic part is, it is still supposedly covered by warranty.
5. Myself
If I lose myself tonight, it will be you and I.
Okay it's a good song alright!
But seriously, I got myself lost. I still remember this. I was about 5 or 6, walking down bustling Kovan with mum and bro. Both of them turned right to go to the crowded hawker centre to get me my favourite egg tarts. Somehow I wasn't made known of this decision, and so I got lost. I cried. Loud. In public. Those type of annoying "MUMMMMYYYYYYYYYYY" screams you hear in the mall nowadays.
Fortunately, I was found within 5 minutes. Probably the longest 5 minutes I had back then. If I wasn't found, I'll probably be sent for child labour or something.
Song of the day:
Zedd - Done With Love
(IT'S SO MUCH LIKE SPECTRUM BUT THIS IS THE JAM MAN. THIS NEEDS TO BE A SINGLE.)
About Me
Singapore's only living Pie with Sliced Ham. I hope.
